CARING FOR
YOUR JEWELRY
Like many metals, Brass, bronze and sterling silver tarnish by nature. The best way to prevent tarnish is to wear your piece often! Should tarnish occur, a polishing cloth such as Sunshine brand is recommended. Please don’t use them on chain or Gold Plated items.
Follow these tips to help keep your pieces looking their best:
Avoid wearing your jewelry while showering, swimming, cleaning, and sweating. Normal hand washing is fine.
Put your jewelry on last in the morning to avoid exposure to products and perfumes.
For pieces featuring a patina or stone embellishment, take extra care to avoid harsh chemicals, high heat, manicure products, or liquid jewelry cleaners.
Gold Plated items can also oxidize and turn a darker color. to clean, add some basic liquid dish soap to some water, dunk your piece in for a few minutes and you’ll see the difference. Don’t use a polishing cloth on gold plating or it will wear off faster. be careful not to soak pearls or stone embelLishments in any dyed or bleach type of detergent. Make sure to rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
store your jewelry in an air-tight plastic container or bag when not in use to help slow tarnish and oxidation.
Also note that metal is not indestructible. It’s subject to wear and tear like anything else. Be mindful of doing anything heavy or hard with your hands while wearing rings to help prevent damage or misshaping the shank.
